Kraków - Kościuszko Mound seen from above. This 33-metres high mound was built on a hill above Kraków in the 1820s to commemorate Tadeusz Kościuszko, a Polish (and later American) freedom fighter. The fort that surrounds it is some 30 years younger; it was built by Austrians as a part of the Kraków Fortress.
